Acute and Long-term Toxicity of Cyclophosphamide
نویسنده
چکیده
Cyclophosphamid has been widely used in patients with kidney diseases such as vasculitis, SLE, steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome and also progressive IgA-nephropathy. Beside acute side effects like bone-marrow toxicity, infections, haemorrhagic cystitis, gastrointestinal side effects and hair loss, the main concern is the long-term effect of the drug which may occur years after treatment when patients with end-stage renal disease have received a transplant. Incidences increase for tumours, especially bladder carcinoma, lymphomas and tumours of the skin, for the myelodysülastic syndrome and the permanent infertility. As most of the side effects are associated with the total dose of CP, dose reduction by stage-adapted treatment, i.v. administration, shorter treatment time and prevention of relapses is an important issue. In addition, some side effects may be reduced or even prevented, e.g. bladder toxicity by the use of Mesna, skin tumours by sun blockers, permanent infertility by sperm conservation or by gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue. In patients with high CP exposure awareness of the increased tumour risk may lead to early detection and the chance or curative treatment.

Acute and Subchronic Toxicity Assessment of Aerial Parts of Ferula persica in Female Mice
Background: Ferula species have shown wide range of pharmacological properties but there is no study on oral safety profile of Ferula persica due to standard toxicology guidelines. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the acute and subchronic oral toxicity of the alcoholic extract of the aerial parts of Ferula persica to provide its safe dose for long term oral administrations as a possible...
متن کاملInfluence of Copper Oxide Nanoparticle on Hematology and Plasma Biochemistry of Caspian Trout (Salmo trutta caspius), Following Acute and Chronic Exposure
The Caspian trout is an endangered and quite vulnerable fish, considered for a natural protection program in the southern area of the Caspian Sea. Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) are toxic substances, which induce oxidative stress, not to mention other pathophysiological states. The toxicity of nanoparticles on fish needs more characterization for short- and long-term effects. Thus, the p...

متن کاملReduced-toxicity myeloablative conditioning consisting of 8-Gy total body irradiation, cyclophosphamide and fludarabine for pediatric hematological malignancies
Conventional myeloablative conditioning (MAC) regimens often cause severe regimen-related toxicity (RRT). Furthermore, many patients suffer from poor quality of life in accordance with the increase in long-term survivors. We therefore devised a reduced-toxicity myeloablative conditioning (RTMAC) regimen consisting of 8-Gy total body irradiation (TBI), fludarabine (FLU) and cyclophosphamide (CY)...
